ACE UK joins call for government to deliver Circular Economy Growth Plan
ACE UK has joined over 50 businesses and trade associations in a letter to Defra Secretary of State Emma Reyolds, urging the government to publish its long delayed Circular Economy Growth Plan.
Co-ordinated by the Green Alliance, the letter expresses concern surrounding the ongoing delay to the plan, which could ‘harm momentum towards a more resilient, resource efficient economy’.
The plan is expected to focus on ending the throwaway society and futureproofing the economy, including introducing better systems to prioritise the remanufacture and reuse of valuable products and resources. For cartons, this means not only increasing recycling rates but also supporting innovations that allow fibres and other components to be reused again. This reduces reliance on virgin materials, lowers carbon emissions, and keeps valuable resources in circulation.
For ACE UK and others working across the circular economy, this direction of travel is both necessary and encouraging. A system that better supports recycling and reuse helps protect natural resources and creates a more resilient economy.
