Almost 80 per cent of UK consumers feel beverage carton recycling should be done on home turf – rather than local councils exporting used cartons to other countries for recycling.
In an independent survey of 1,000 main shoppers, conducted on behalf of ACE UK, respondents overwhelmingly felt that it was important or very important that carton recycling is achieved in this country.
Fay Dashper, Recycling Operations Manager at ACE UK, comments: “We wholeheartedly welcome the findings of this research, which demonstrate the clear consumer preference for beverage cartons to be recycled in the UK. It supports our plans to establish the UK’s only beverage carton reprocessing facility next year, and we hope that it will encourage more local authorities to send their resident’s used cartons to the new plant.
“Bryson Recycling, Northern Ireland’s leading recycling service, was the first to sign-up in October, and we expect more to follow their lead.”
